Warranty Terms and conditions
1. All units are surchargable unless a one for one exchange is made. The exchange surcharge is refunded on return of the used gearbox and provided that the casings are not damaged or the gearbox is not beyond economic repair.
2. We reserve the right at our sole discretion, not to refund the surcharge on a used gearbox not returned within two weeks of the purchase of the exchange gearbox.
3. Our warranty is limited to the gearbox, materials and services supplied by First Motion Transmissions only. In the unlikely event of one of our gearboxes failing or developing a fault within the stated warranty period the customer must remove and deliver the unit to us at their expense.
4. We do not accept any consequential charges (e.g. recovery, removal, fitting or recovery charges) on the rare occasions that our gearboxes give problems in warranty. We do not provide hire cars if there is any delays in customer rebuild whatever the reason.
5. We recommend that a good quality new 3 part clutch is fitted with all our gearboxes.
6. There is no warranty on any main shaft which fails due to fracture.
7. Our standard warranty is 12 months/12000 miles whichever is first on all standard passenger vehicles and 6 months/6000 miles whichever is first on commercial vehicles. Vehicles fitted with our gearboxes must be professionally serviced to manufactures procedures for our warranty to be effective. Proof of which will be required should a warranty claim arise.
8. Warranty on our gearboxes used for non standard modified vehicles (e.g. kit cars, track “chipped”) will carry either limited warranty or no warranty depending on the application of the vehicle the length of warranty will be clearly stated on the invoice.
9. Gearboxes must be properly fitted (and with clutches and ancillary parts in good condition) and must be checked after fitting and after a one mile road test (or more) as being oil tight with no leaks. Gearboxes will be excluded from our warranty if not properly fitted or burnt out due to low oil level.
10. The correct oil should be used as per manufactures specification with good quality oil as cheaper brands can cause problems at low temperatures with baulking when cold. All units should be filled to the correct levels please note all our units are supplied dry and require filling with oil. Warranties will become void if this is not carried out.
11. We will at our discretion charge for collection and delivery of units. You will be notified of these when quoted.
12. We reserve the right to vary prices without prior notice. If in doubt please confirm our prices before quoting third parties.
13. Worn gearboxes must be supplied to us clean and drained of oil.
14. Gearboxes that are returned in warranty must have bell housing attached and Speedo gears left in. Also the gearbox must not be drained. If any of these items are ignored your warranty may be invalidated.
15. Our exchange gearboxes are fitted as a minimum with new bearings gaskets and seals.
16. We will make charges at our discretion to rectify defects created in our gearboxes when in our opinion the gearbox has been fitted incorrectly
17. We will make charges to customers if a fault is reported and when investigated no fault is found. We strongly advise all our trade customers to road test any vehicle with a reported fault not to depend solely on the owners comments. If in doubt we strongly advise that the vehicle is bought to us for road test.
18. We believe that disputes can be settled amicably. Failing this we recommend the use of an agreed thirds party for example the AA or R.A.C
19. All units remain the property of First Motion Transmissions and will not be released until full payment for work, services and parts has been paid for in full.
20. Work carried out by any third party on our units will invalidate the warranty unless specifically approved by us in writing.
21. Units supplied for modified vehicles will carry either no warranty or a limited warranty as specified by the company.
22. The warranty will not cover the gearbox if in our opinion after investigation the fault or faults are caused by driver abuse incorrect fitting or incorrect application.
