First Motion Transmissions are a Family run Business Established in 2008 we specialise in the rebuild and repair of Gearboxes and Transmissions for Classic Ford, TVR, MG & Triumph’s and many more Classic vehicles for both Road, Fast road & Race applications.

We have over 32 years of experience in the Rebuild and reconditioning industry

The Classics of Today were once most peoples daily transport 32 years ago, This means we have a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to common weak point’s and wear parts within your classic Gearbox.

Over the years we have developed a range of upgrades and Modifications to overcome many common problems.

  Dealing with Paul at First Motion Transmissions has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish.  It is not often that you meet an absolute expert in their field, also coupled with such a down to earth friendly and professional manner.  Paul is exactly that, he has a wealth of experience gained from working in the automotive transmission business for many years and a customer service ethos that surpasses expectations.
I was looking to change my current Type 9 gearbox to better meet the needs of my 100 BHP Westfield Eleven.  My understanding of these matters is astonishingly low but Paul took me through a gearbox calculator exercise that offered the best match for my wheels, final drive set up etc.  The deal was done and within a very short period of time (days) my gearbox was ready for collection.  The exterior appearance looked brand new but what was more impressive was the comprehensive briefing that I received on what had been done to the gearbox but possibly more importantly was the sheet containing installation checks and procedures - quite outstanding.  Well that's it for now - I will report again when I use the box in anger and that will be when I get my engine back - delayed from the engine builder!
